Med dannelsen i 2016 er Stockholmbaserede Havamal et af de nyere navne på årets program. Stilen er dog langt fra moderne med nordisk mytologi som gennemgående tema og en lyd baseret i power og melodisk death metal med folk og symfoniske elementer. Bandets vikingemetal bør hermed appellere til fans af bands som Amon Amarth, Wintersun og Ensiferum. Indtil nu har Havamal udgivet to album på Art Gates Records, ’Tales From Yggdrasil’ i 2019 og ’The Shadow Chapter’ i 2021, hvor de med udgivelsen af sidstnævnte spillede en forrygende koncert på Raise Your Horns.
Dybt forankret i vikingekultur og den nordiske mytologi fortæller Havamal fantastiske historier om guder, jætter og skabninger som Fenris, Kraken og Midgårdsormen, og med en blanding af brutalitet og melodi fremmaner de billeder af storslåede, mytologiske slag i musikken. Med de to nye singler ’The Storm King’ og ’Song of Nine’ samt et nyt album på vej og adskillige koncerter booket over hele Europa, ser 2024 ud til at blive et skelsættende år for Havamal. Vi kan ikke vente til endnu en gang at opleve bandets kraftfulde, energiske vikingehymner, der med garanti vil få alles næver i vejret.

With its formation in 2016, Stockholm based Havamal is one of the newer names on this year’s program. However, the style is far from modern with Norse Mythology as the consistent theme and a sound based in power and melodic death metal with folk and symphonic elements. Thus, the band’s Viking metal should appeal to fans of bands such as Amon Amarth, Wintersun, and Ensiferum. So far Havamal have released two albums on Art Gates Records, ’Tales From Yggdrasil’ in 2019 and ’The Shadow Chapter’ in 2021, where they with the release of the latter played a spectacular show at Raise Your Horns.
Deeply rooted in Viking culture and Norse Mythology, Havamal tell fantastical stories of gods, giants, and creatures like Fenrir, Kraken, and the Midgard Serpent, and with a mix of brutality and melody they conjure images of epic, mythological battles in the music. With the two new singles ’The Storm King’ and ’Song of Nine’ as well as a new album on the way and several shows booked across Europe, 2024 is looking to become a seminal year for Havamal. We cannot wait to experience once again the band’s powerful, energetic Viking hymns that are guaranteed to get everyone’s fists in the air.
