Ligesom BeCursed fandt musikere med baggrund i bl.a. Vanir, Fall of Pantheon og Ethereal Kingdom i 2020 inspiration under pandemien til at starte et nyt band. Resultatet blev Lotan; et råt og til tider melodisk black metal projekt inspireret af navne som Marduk, Rotting Christ og Satyricon. De har indtil nu udgivet de to EP’er ’Nihil Sacrum’ og ’Angelus Pestis’ i 2021, samme år som deres optræden på Raise Your Horns, samt albummet ’Lotan’ i 2023 på Uprising Records, som bandet er i færd med at skrive opfølgeren til.
Lotans danske og engelske tekster kredser sig om satanisk spiritualisme, mesopotamiske myter og eksistentialisme, og navnet er passende taget fra et mytisk søuhyre. Musikken indeholder den rette blanding af aggression og groove til at appellere til fans af både ekstrem og melodisk metal, og Lotan er en af frontløberne i den nye generation af dansk black metal, der har modtaget stor ros for deres energiske og nærværende koncerter. Vi ser frem til at byde dette nu veletablerede band velkommen tilbage til Bornholm og høre deres fantastiske, nye materiale.

Much like BeCursed, in 2020 during the pandemic musicians with backgrounds in amongst others Vanir, Fall of Pantheon, and Ethereal Kingdom found the inspiration to start a new band. The result was Lotan; a raw and at times melodic black metal project inspired by names such as Marduk, Rotting Christ, and Satyricon. So far, they have released the two EPs ’Nihil Sacrum’ and ’Angelus Pestis’ in 2021, the same year as their performance at Raise Your Horns, as well as the album ’Lotan’ in 2023 on Uprising Records which the band is currently writing the follow-up to.
Lotan’s Danish and English lyrics revolve around Satanic spiritualism, Mesopotamian myths, and existentialism, and fittingly, the name is derived from a mythical sea monster. The music contains the right mix of aggression and groove to appeal to fans of both extreme and melodic metal, and Lotan is one of the front runners of the new generation of Danish black metal having received high praise for their energetic and present shows. We look forward to welcoming back this now well-established band to Bornholm and hearing their fantastic, new material.
