2. hovednavn på dette års Raise Your Horns er Kvaen, der blev startet af den svenske vokalist og guitarist Jacob Björnfot (Autumn Death) i 2019 og fortsætter med at være hans enmandsprojekt her fem år senere. Han har indtil videre udgivet de to anmelderroste album ’The Funeral Pyre’ (2020) og ’The Great Below’ (2022) med gæsteoptrædener af navne som Mathias Lillmåns (Finntroll), Mike Wead (Mercyful Fate), Sebastian Ramstedt (Necrophobic) og Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy). Kvaens tredje album ’The Formless Fires’ er sat til at udkomme på Metal Blade Records i juni i år, og ifølge Björnfot indeholder dette nye album hans absolut bedste materiale hidtil.
Kvaen trækker fra både de svenske og norske metalscener med et dystert tekstunivers baseret i nordiske traditioner og myter præsenteret i en hidsig blanding af speed, pagan, melodisk death og atmosfærisk black metal, der vil tiltale fans af navne som Dissection, Naglfar og Necrophobic, hvoraf de to sidstnævnte tidligere har headlinet Raise Your Horns. Selvom Kvaen er Björnfots vision, er han ikke alene på scenen og har med sit liveband spillet koncerter og festivaler over hele Europa inkl. i Danmark med Lotan. Dette er dog deres første koncert på Bornholm, og vi kunne ikke være mere begejstrede for at fuldende programmet for Raise Your Horns 2024 med dette fantastiske band.

2nd headliner of this year’s Raise Your Horns is Kvaen that was started by Swedish vocalist and guitarist Jacob Björnfot (Autumn Death) in 2019 and remains his one man project these five years later. So far, he has released the two critically acclaimed albums ’The Funeral Pyre’ (2020) and ’The Great Below’ (2022) with guest performances by names such as Mathias Lillmåns (Finntroll), Mike Wead (Mercyful Fate), Sebastian Ramstedt (Necrophobic), and Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy). Kvaen’s third album ’The Formless Fires’ is set to release on Metal Blade Records in June of this year and according to Björnfot, this new album contains his very best material yet.
Kvaen draws from both the Swedish and Norwegian metal scenes with a bleak lyrical universe based in Nordic traditions and myths presented in a ferocious mix of speed, pagan, melodic death, and atmospheric black metal that will appeal to fans of names such as Dissection, Naglfar, and Necrophobic, of which the latter two are previous headliners of Raise Your Horns. Even though Kvaen is Björnfot’s vision, he is not alone on stage, and with his live band he has played concerts and festivals all over Europe incl. Denmark with Lotan. However, this is their first show on Bornholm, and we could not be more thrilled to complete the program for Raise Your Horns 2024 with this fantastic band.
