Shadowspawn er et af de nyere bands på festivalens program og kan i 2022 fejre sit 10-års jubilæum. Medlemmerne er dog veteraner på den danske metalscene med erfaring, der går tilbage til 90’erne. Shadowspawns tunge old-school death metal grooves er tydeligt inspireret af amerikanske pionerer som Morbid Angel, Immolation og Malevolent Creation. Man aner desuden de danske death/thrash-traditioner fra 90’erne, som gruppens medlemmer har været en del af med bands som Cinerator og Sacrificial.
Siden Shadowspawns start i 2012 har de udgivet EP’en ’Ashes of Sorrow’ i 2015 samt de to album ’Hope Lies Dormant’ i 2017 og ’The Biology of Disbelief’ i år. Bandets udgivelser er generelt blevet taget yderst positivt imod af anmelderne bl.a. HeavyMetal.dk, der tildelte karakteren 9/10 til Hope Lies Dormant og kårede den som årets danske udgivelse, og Metalized, som gav The Biology of Disbelief topkarakteren 10/10. Shadowspawn har optrådt på en lang række danske spillesteder og festivaler, og nu er turen endelig kommet til Raise Your Horns.

Shadowspawn is one of the newer bands on the festival program and in 2022 may celebrate their 10-year anniversary. The members are veterans on the Danish metal scene though with experience dating back to the 90s. Shadowspawn’s heavy old-school death metal grooves are clearly inspired by American pioneers such as Morbid Angel, Immolation and Malevolent Creation. One notices the Danish death/thrash traditions of the 90s as well that the group’s members have been a part of with bands such as Cinerator and Sacrificial.
Since the start of Shadowspawn in 2012, they have released the EP ’Ashes of Sorrow’ in 2015 as well as the two albums ’Hope Lies Dormant’ in 2017 and ’The Biology of Disbelief’ this year. The band’s releases are generally extremely well received by the reviewers for instance HeavyMetal.dk, who gave the grade 9/10 to Hope Lies Dormant and awarded it the Danish release of the year, and Metalized, who gave The Biology of Disbelief the highest grade of 10/10. Shadowspawn have performed at a long list of Danish venues and festivals, and now it is finally the turn of Raise Your Horns.
